    Driving sustainable impact at Micron

    At Micron, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to reducing carbon emissions, minimizing waste and advancing water recycling efforts. In Malaysia, we’ve achieved 100% renewable energy adoption through the Green Electricity Tariff (GET) program. Through this effort, we’ve eliminated 175,381 metric tons of carbon emissions annually, which is equivalent to removing 35,076 passenger cars from the road. Guided by our 2W2E framework — waste, water, energy and emissions — we integrate responsible operations and sourcing with engaged teams and innovative products to create lasting benefits to the planet and our communities.

    Pioneering water recycling and conservation​ 

    Micron Malaysia recycled over 1.1 million cubic meters of water, equivalent to the yearly consumption of 17,133 people in 2023. The Muar facility has increased its water recycling rate to 55.6% through innovative wastewater systems, while the Penang facility saved 566,299 cubic meters of water through advanced recycling projects.

    Driving waste reduction and circular practices​

    Micron Malaysia focuses on waste reduction, recycling and recovery (RRR) to minimize landfill impact. In 2023, 85% of waste was reused, recycled or recovered. Key efforts include partnering with vendors to enhance recycling and composting food waste.

    Winning low carbon challenge​ 

    Micron Malaysia’s Muar site won a first prize in the Low Carbon Challenge, private building category, for the Tangkak District. This achievement supports Micron's goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, adopting renewable energy, conserving water and achieving zero waste.
