The tech industry is like no other in which I’ve been involved. In the last 20 or more years, innovation has been continuous, built by some of the smartest minds around. I’m privileged and excited to lead teams of these smart people.
The best part of working with innovative people is the wonderful level of collaboration I see every day. This collaboration extends beyond Micron. We regularly collaborate with our customers and key ecosystem partners to solve some tough problems and bring real, tangible benefits to so many.
Together, we design solutions to solve some of the most demanding client-compute-related challenges:
- Making fast, high-quality SSD storage more affordable
- Enabling smaller and lighter mobile compute without sacrificing performance
- Helping on-the-go students and families carry less and manage their connectivity more efficiently
- Harnessing the value of immense data assets and taming the most data-intensive applications — all while remaining mobile
- Balancing cost vs. performance trade-offs to solve challenges with the latest storage technology, efficiently supporting the most demanding use cases
At Micron, we know that innovations like these aren’t easy. To innovate takes curiosity, tenacity and a sense of purpose. Ever since Micron started in 1978, innovation has been in our DNA and it continues with our latest line of SSDs.
Previously, we announced production of the world’s most advanced 3D NAND built with 176-layer technology. Today, we’re announcing two powerful and efficient client SSDs with NVMe™ PCIe Gen4 for the client OEM market built on this advanced 176-layer NAND — the first Micron-branded SSDs to use NAND of this type. These SSDs, the Micron 3400 SSD and the Micron 2450 SSD, are available for data-intensive workstations as well as for ultrathin, ultraportable notebooks. These state-of-the-art PCIe Gen4 SSDs bring a new computing experience for every user across the client market by addressing their compute challenges with unique features.
Micron 2450 SSD With NVMe
We designed the Micron 2450 SSD with flexibility and affordability in mind. It is planned for low-cost, PCIe Gen4-performance mobile devices, with form factors ranging from the tiny 22 x 30mm to the midsized 22 x 42mm to the standard 22 x 80mm (and all are M.2). With form factors as small as the size of a coin, OEMs can design end products that are as thin and light as possible. Anyone who has ever had to carry around a laptop knows the benefit of thin and light PCs.
The Micron 2450 SSD offers flexible, affordable form factor options that deliver PCIe Gen4 performance for use anywhere, with power efficiency to compute untethered from the charger.
Essentially, it enables both low-power and responsive PCIe Gen4 platforms that are thin, light and portable — and engineered for all-day compute.
Micron 3400 SSD With NVMe
The Micron 3400 SSD offers massive capacity (up to 2TB) and massive performance. This PCIe Gen4 SSD is built with leading-edge technology for an exceptional desktop, workstation and gaming experience.
It uses the performance of Micron’s industry-leading 176-layer NAND, along with PCIe Gen4, to build the capability to manage expanding workstation, gaming and corporate PC applications. With the Micron 3400 SSD, users can have high-capacity storage that professional applications like real-time 3D rendering, CAD, genomic sequencing, and animation require — in an advanced power-saving design.
These PCIe Gen4 SSDs incorporate Micron’s innovative 176-layer NAND, an essential building block that enables people to do more and learn more on the go. They are a major step in our ongoing customer collaborations to design and build client SSDs that bring the latest technologies to solve real customer challenges.
The same tenacity and innovative spirit that has gone into creating these SSDs will help enable end users to achieve more. At Micron, we are committed to innovating so that our solutions can help others do the same.
