Philanthropy highlights

Micron Technology and the Micron Foundation focus on giving opportunities that enrich communities, expand access to STEM education at all levels, and encourage students to seek high-tech careers of the future. This page highlights key partnerships and programs that help make our work possible and that we’re proud to fund.

Empowering women in STEM: UN Women India's WeSTEM program

The Micron Foundation is partnering with UN Women’s WeSTEM program to enable girls like Kunti, a first-generation learner from India who is undergoing STEM training, to acquire 21st century skills and enter STEM industries. So far, the program has reached more than 2,000 girls in 40 industrial training institutes and polytechnics. Investing in women is vital to enhance their economic empowerment and help them access careers of the future.

Sponsoring the AAPI Data initiative

The Data-Narrative-Action (DNA) Fellowship Program gives resources to nonprofits and students to elevate their work and cultivate their leadership potential while driving towards social change. It connects college students with nonprofits that serve Asian Americans (AA), Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (NHPI). In January 2024, AAPI Data welcomed 11 DNA fellows across four organizations: AAPI Data, APIAVote, Asian Pacific Fund and Empowering Pacific Islander Communities

STEM-ming the gap: The Micron Foundation's tinkering approach

The Micron Foundation promotes experiential and inclusive STEM education by encouraging “tinkering,” which makes STEM learning more interesting for students. The Micron Foundation works with the Deutsches Museum (one of the biggest science museums in the world) to support its Tinkering Lab. Partnering to create career pathways for homeless people

Together with the Idaho Workforce Development Council, College of Western Idaho and Interfaith Sanctuary, the Micron Foundation is proud to support skilling efforts for homeless people. We granted funds to Interfaith Sanctuary to create a classroom at its shelter to teach workforce training programs, while our partners are conducting the training programs that will provide pathways to jobs and strengthen Idaho’s workforce.
