Micron 5300 SSD Firmware Update Instructions (D3MU[048]01)

Scope 

Firmware D3MU001 is applicable to all configurations of 1.9TB and under: 

MTFDDAV240TDU 

MTFDDAV240TDS, MTFDDAV480TDS, MTFDDAV960TDS, MTFDDAV1T9TDS 

MTFDDAK240TDS, MTFDDAK480TDS, MTFDDAK960TDS, MTFDDAK1T9TDS 

MTFDDAK240TDT, MTFDDAK480TDT, MTFDDAK960TDT, MTFDDAK1T9TDT 



Firmware D3MU401 is applicable to all configurations of 3.8TB: 

MTFDDAK3T8TDS, MTFDDAK3T8TDT 



Firmware D3MU801 is applicable to all configurations of 7.6TB: 

MTFDDAK7T6TDS 



All three firmware images are packaged in a single file for easy updating. 





Firmware Update Instructions Using msecli 

Firmware update requires: 
-administrator or root user privileges


1.Download the latest version of msecli from micron.com:

https://www.micron.com/products/solid-state-storage/storage-executive-software 

2.Download the desired firmware file from micron.com

3.List the drives in the system using:

msecli -L 

4.Apply the firmware update to the desired 5300 indicated by "Device Name" using msecli:

msecli -F -U <firmware.bin> -n <Device_Name> 

Windows example: 

msecli -F -U 5300_D3MU[048]01_combined.bin -n drive1 

Linux example: 

msecli -F -U 5300_D3MU[048]01_combined.bin -n /dev/sdb
