Micron was proud to join President Biden, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and the many other federal, state and local leaders today to announce the $6.1 billion in funding under the CHIPS and Science Act. The CHIPS and Science Act grants will support Micron’s plans to invest approximately $50 billion in gross capex for U.S. domestic leading-edge memory manufacturing through 2030 for a fab in Idaho and two in New York. The investments announced today represent the first step toward Micron’s vision of both a leading-edge R&D and manufacturing center in Boise, Idaho and a four-fab manufacturing complex in Clay, New York to be built over the next 20-plus years with potential investment totaling up to $125 billion. These investments will support Micron’s objective to grow its memory bit supply in line with long-term industry bit demand growth. Micron’s planned state-of-the-art #semiconductor #manufacturing facilities are expected to create approximately 75,000 American jobs over the next 20-plus years and strengthen U.S. economic and national security, furthering American innovation and competition for years to come. These plans will help to bolster the economies and quality of life in both Idaho and New York. https://bit.ly/4d8g5O1

What if we could revolutionize AI training by using NVMe as a third-tier of “slow” memory to run training jobs on single GPU systems that used to require multiple GPU systems? At #GTC24, Micron, in collaboration with NVIDIA and Dell Technologies, demonstrated how our Gen5 SSD tech demo is perfectly suited for AI model offloading. We utilized the open-source BaM/GIDS software stack on a Dell PowerEdge R7625, equipped with an NVIDIA H100 80GB PCIe GPU (Gen5). The results were nothing short of astounding! Explore how Gen5 storage truly excels in the realm of AI with this new blog from Ryan Meredith, Micron director of storage solutions architecture: https://bit.ly/4a0VDvD

I was honored to stand with President Biden today to celebrate the commitment of $6.1 billion in CHIPS and Science Act funds to enable Micron Technology's approximately $50 billion investment in leading-edge U.S. memory manufacturing through 2030. Micron’s planned state-of-the-art #semiconductor manufacturing facilities are expected to create approximately 75,000 domestic jobs over the next 20-plus years. This is a momentous occasion for Micron, for our industry, and for our nation. Micron is the only U.S. company #manufacturing the memory solutions that are essential for the technologies of today and tomorrow. From smartphones to supercomputers, memory is the lifeblood of innovation and economic growth. That is why it is so vital that we have a strong and resilient semiconductor supply chain in the U.S., one that can meet the growing demand for memory products, and one that can foster a vibrant ecosystem of customers, suppliers, and partners across the country. With the support of the CHIPS and Science Act, Micron is making that vision a reality. We are building three state-of-the-art memory fabs in New York and Idaho, creating tens of thousands of jobs and strengthening America's leadership in semiconductor innovation. We appreciate the foresight of U.S. President Joe Biden, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and the bipartisan delegation in Congress that supported the CHIPS and Science Act. Their steadfast focus championing these strategic investments will ensure U.S. semiconductor competitiveness for generations to come. Many thanks to our valued partners in New York and Idaho for their support and leadership, particularly Governor Kathy Hochul, Governor Brad Little, Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon, Boise Mayor Lauren McLean and CenterState CEO President Rob Simpson. We are excited to build our future together with you. I also want to thank our Micron team members – those who worked so tirelessly to put these projects together, everyone who drives Micron’s technology leadership today, and every person who has contributed to Micron’s proud legacy over the past 45 years. Together, we are rewriting the future of semiconductors and the future of American #technology manufacturing.

Micron and the Biden-Harris Administration are proud to announce the signing of non-binding terms for $6.1 billion in funding under the CHIPS and Science Act to support planned leading-edge memory #manufacturing in Idaho and New York. With these funds, we are excited to invest approximately $50 billion in gross capex for U.S. domestic leading-edge memory manufacturing through 2030 for a fab in Idaho and two in New York. These grants, along with additional state and local incentives, will support the construction of three leading-edge memory manufacturing fabs: one co-located with the company’s existing advanced R&D facility in Boise, Idaho and two in Clay, New York. These memory fabs are expected to create approximately 75,000 direct and indirect jobs across the U.S. semiconductor supply chain. The investments announced today represent the first step toward Micron’s vision of both a leading-edge R&D and manufacturing center in Boise, Idaho and a four-fab manufacturing complex in Clay, New York to be built over the next 20-plus years with potential investment totaling up to $125 billion– supporting Micron’s objective to grow its memory bit supply in line with long-term industry bit demand growth. https://bit.ly/3Qi58Q8
